Bromont World Cup Results MTB Elite Men Cross Country

Julien Absalon of Team Orbea rode powered ahead for six laps to take a solo victory at the Bromont World Cup, just one week after his win at Mont-Sainte-Anne.

Lukas Flückiger of Team Athleticum spent most of the race trying to real in the French National Champion Absalon. Near the end Flückiger slowed, but he hung tough to finish second while Team Giant’s Adam Craig came in third.

Sylvain Chavanel (Cofidis) broke away from the peloton at the midpoint of the 165.5 kilometer stage with fellow Frenchman Jérémy Roy (Française des Jeux). Riding his 8th Tour, Chavanel had the strength advantage over Roy, and out powered his younger companion in the two man sprint. After the finish of the 19th stage, Chavanel broke down in tears of joy for having finally been able to find Tour success.

2009 Tour of California Route Announced

The route for the 2009 Tour of California was announced Wednesday by AEG Sports, promoters of the race, during the American broadcast of the Tour de France.

The Tour has been lengthened to nine days and will venture to new parts of the state. Two big additions are climbs in the Sierra Nevada mountains and the first ever stage south of Los Angeles in San Diego county.

Stage 2: Sunday, Feb. 15 - Davis to Santa Rosa
Stage 3: Monday, Feb. 16 - Sausalito to Santa Cruz
Stage 4: Tuesday, Feb. 17 - San Jose to Modesto
Stage 5: Wednesday, Feb. 18 - Merced to Clovis
Stage 6: Thursday, Feb. 19 - Visalia to Paso Robles
Stage 7: Friday, Feb. 20 - Solvang (individual time trial)
