Cycling in Europe and other high populous areas around the world is the most used means of transportation for local travel. Will the United States ever make an effort to accept the bike as an alternative to the auto?

Most U.S. residents feel a bicycle will never meet their transportation needs. While a bike might not work as well in a country setting, large cities could make a better effort to help with a switch over to a cyclist friendly way of life.
